BEYOND THE CLASSROOM Clubs and Societies
Music and Drama The school has a thoroughly deserved reputation for music and drama. Every year a comprehensive programme of events takes place. Recent major productions have included 'Oliver', 'Calamity Jane', 'Little Shop of Horrors' and 'Annie'. School choirs are strong and are often augmented by staff and friends. They give many performances throughout the year, both in school and at the request of the local community. The annual Eisteddfod engenders much enthusiasm throughout the school. The school makes full use of the LEA's peripatetic music teachers for the provision of extra tuition in strings, brass, woodwind and singing. Charity Work The pupils of Lliswerry have shown that they are always prepared to work for charity. They do this in many ways and their efforts are organised by a committee of Sixth Form pupils. The main thrust of charity work occurs during Charity Week. This has proved to be a very popular and worthwhile event. Other events take place throughout the year and the inspiration often comes from individual pupils who, from time to time, feel strongly about a particular cause. Links with the Community The school places great importance on its role in the community and we strive to develop our pupil' social awareness. Links exist with churches, voluntary organisations and businesses in the area. Members of the community, including the Police Liaison Officer, support many activities in the school. | Skip Calendar CalendarLatest News(No news has been posted yet) |
